On Tuesday the Texas League announced the Post-Season All-Star Team for the 2013 season. Two former Midland RockHounds earned those honors: first baseman Anthony Aliotti and pitcher Carlos Hernandez. Both Aliotti and Hernandez are now on the RiverCats roster helping drive their team to the post season.
Anthony Aliotti, in his second year with the RockHounds, played in 91 games before getting the call to AAA Sacramento. During his time with the RockHounds Aliotti batted .350 with 119 hits, 12 home runs and 51 RBIs. His average still leads the Texas League by 30 points. The next closest is Mike O’Neill (another Post-Season All-Star) of the Springfield Cardinals with an average of .320. O’Neill has since been promoted to the Memphis Redbirds of the PCL. Aliotti was named Texas League Player of the Week on May 13, 2013.
Carlos Hernandez pitched in 25 games for the RockHounds in 2013. He started 20 of those games. In 132 innings for the RockHounds Hernandez compiled a 7-7 record with a low 2.18 ERA and 92 strikeouts. Hernandez was named the Texas League Pitcher of the Week on July 15, 2013.
