It has been reported that Oakland Athletics’s #1 prospect Addison Russell will be heading to Tacoma, WA on Saturday to join up with the Sacramento RiverCats in their push for the playoffs. The Stockton Ports were eliminated from the playoff race on Friday night as they lost to the Modesto Nuts 6-3.
In his first full professional season Addison is batting .275 with 17 home runs and 60 RBIs in 107 games. Primarily batting lead off or hitting second in the lineup Addison was able to be a spark plug for the Ports. His on base percentage is .377 and he has been active on the base paths stealing 21 bases in 24 attempts.
The RiverCats are 2 games behind the Las Vegas 51s with 3 games left to play. The hope is that the addition of Addison can spark the RiverCats offense that only managed 1 run on 5 hits in a 7-1 loss to the Tacoma Rainiers. Whether or not Addison will start on Saturday has yet to be determined, but you can be sure his arrival will have a positive impact on the team.
Addison Russell was recently named California League Rookie of the Year and selected to the Post-Season All-Star team.
