Profile
Michael Choice is the No. 2 ranked prospect in the Oakland Athletics organization.  He spent the entire 2013 season healthy with the Sacramento RiverCats.  During his first 2 full professional seasons Michael was limited in playing time due to injuries.  2013 was the first season in which Michael played virtually injury free.

Each year Michael’s season batting average has improved.  He hit .285 with the Stockton Ports in 2011 and in 2012 he hit .287.  With the RiverCats this past season Michael batted a career best .302.  While his power numbers have dropped, he hit 30 home runs in 2011 and only 14 in 2013, he still shows a lot of pop in his bat.  His pitch selection has gotten much better as well striking out on average once every 5 at bats.

Michael got his first taste of the Major Leagues in September 2013.  In 9 games he batted .278 with 5 hits and 1 double.  His first major league hit was an infield single that barely traveled the same distance the pitch was thrown.  Michael did have the opportunity to show off his defensive prowess as he had 10 put outs in 41 innings in the field.

I remember watching Michael Choice play for the Stockton Ports during the 2011 season.  It was amazing to watch him crank out 30 home runs in 118 games.  From what I saw he is a plus defender.  He has plenty of up-side and he will make a great addition to the Oakland Athletics next year.  Whether or not he makes the Opening Day roster will be based on his spring and any off season moves the Athletics might make.  However you can expect Choice to make an impact with the Athletics sometime in 2014.
