Profile
Matt Olson was the number 5 ranked prospect in the Oakland Athletics organization heading in to the 2013 season.  He had a strong showing in his first full professional season and remains among the Top Prospects in the organization.

Matt played in 46 games in 2012 with the AZL Athletics batting .282 with 16 double and 8 home runs.  He was moved up to the Vermont Lake Monsters for his final 4 games of his Pro Debut Season.  In his brief stint with the Lake Monsters he was 3 for 11 with a home run and 4 RBIs.

Matt was given to opportunity to man first base for the Beloit Snappers in 2013.  While he only batted .225 on the season, his power numbers and ability to get on base propelled Matt to the Midwest League All-Star Team.

For the week of August 19-25, 2013 Matt won the Midwest League Player of the Week Honors.  During the 7 day stretch Matt batted .379 with 10 extra base hits including 5 home runs while driving in 12 runs.

Matt is projected to start the 2014 season with the Stockton Ports.  If so this could give the Ports one of the youngest infields they have seen.  Matt will be 20 at the start of the season.  Renato Nunez and Daniel Robertson will also be 20 next season.  Number 17 Prospect Chris Bostick will likely play second base for the Ports next season will be 21 at the start of the season.

I would love to see Matt play for the Ports next season.  I have heard a lot of great things about the prospect and this would give the Ports, potentially, the Numbers 3, 4, 5 & 6 Prospects in the Athletics organization.
