Friday night was an organizational sweep for the Oakland Athletics. The Oakland Athletics decisively won 11-1 against the Cleveland Indians. In the farm system the Sacramento River Cats dominated the Tacoma Raniers. The Midland RockHounds and Stockton Ports both scored the go ahead run late in the game to secure the victory. The Beloit Snappers were the biggest winners of the night as they swept a double header against the Clinton LumberKings. On Saturday each team will continue their respective series.

On Thursday it took extra inning for the Sacramento River Cats and the Midland RockHounds to earn the victory. The Stockton Ports lost a weekday matinee against the San Jose Giants. In the Midwest League the Beloit Snappers and the Clinton LumberKings were rained out so they will play a double header on Friday. Up next, the RockHounds travel to Corpus Christi to play the Hooks. The Stockton Ports welcome in the Bakersfield Blake in the start of a 4 game set.

At 28 games D’Arby Myers’s hitting streak a new season high

In the top of the 3rd inning against the Corpus Christi Hooks D’Arby Myers extended his hitting streak to 28 games.  He laced a 2 strike pitch to left center field for a single.  D’arby’s hitting streak is now the longest in all the majors and minors this season surpassing Boston’s David Ortiz and Colorado’s Michael Cuddyer.  The Midland RockHounds went on to beat the Hooks by the score of 4-3.  Thursday nights victory was only the 9th out of 31 tries this season against the Hooks.  Friday the RockHounds look for their twnth win against the Hooks as the two teams wrap up the season series.

D’Arby Myers Hitting Streak Now at 27

In yet another loss to the Corpus Christi Hooks on Wednesday D’Arby Myers extended his hitting streak to 27 games.  D’Arby laced an RBI double in the 6th inning driving in Conner Crumbliss for the lone RockHounds run.  In reaching 27 games D’Arby matched the longest hitting streak in all of professional baseball this season and surpassed the longest in the minors.  He joins the exclusive company of David Ortiz, Boston Red Sox, and Michael Cuddyer, Colorado Rockies, who both have had 27 game hitting streaks in 2013.  D’Arby looks to continue his streak tonight in Corpus Christi as the RockHounds play the 3rd game of a 4 game series.

D’Arby Myers was signed by the Oakland Athletics as a minor league free agent on November 30, 2012.  He was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 4th round of the 2006 first year player draft out of Westchester High School in Los Angeles.

D’Arby Myers extends hitting streak to 26 games

On Tuesday the Midland RockHound outfielder D’Arby Myers extended his hitting streak to 26 games.  In a 3-2 loss in 11 innings to the Corpus Christi Hooks, D’Arby knocked a single in the 10th inning to extend the streak.  During the 26 game hitting streak D’Arby is batting .383 (41-107).  He has 15 hits in his last 10 game raising his average to .291 on the season which ties him for 4th in the Texas League with Brett Nicholas of the Frisco Rough Riders.  Former RockHound Anthony Aliotti leads the Texas League with a .350 average.
